Apparently there's a huge gender imbalance in China because of female infanticide, abortion of girl babies, so the men have much fewer prospective brides. Thus they start marrying relatives instead, girls again being forced to stay at home to marry their lamebrained cousins or even brothers. The females continue to suffer because of past mistakes they bore the brunt of. She'd have a lot to say about that.
